Carpet Flooring Styles and Installation

As with any other industry, carpet flooring has made many technological advances and new discoveries are made every day to improve the products and the process to make them. In the last few years, the carpet industry has gone through a transformation that has led to some exciting new product offerings.

In the past, the debate between nylon and polyester was not a difficult one. Nylon was king because of its wearability, but was more expensive than its polyester counterpart that was known for its ability to ward off stains. In the last few years, the development of a new product called continuous filament polyester has lead the combination of both wearability and stain resistance.

Consider The Benefits of Carpet

Carpet has always been known as a product that provides more comfort and insulation than any of the other flooring options. The expected life span of carpet is only 6 years. However, many manufacturers provide warranties that exceed this estimation and many applications far surpass this expectation.

Another thing to consider when considering carpet is padding. When it comes to pad, most manufacturers will not warranty a pad thicker than 1/2 of an inch. The quality of the pad is not determined by its thickness, but by its density (ex. 6 lbs, 8 lbs., 10 lbs) and its features (ex. moisture barriers, odor repellants). Recommended cleaning for carpet in pad is by hot water extraction every 12-18 months. Some manufacturers require receipts of cleaning to maintain the product warranty.
